Siding

Siding is an important part of your home, not only because it is integral for protecting your house from the elements but also because it helps establish your home’s style. Carefully selected siding and exterior elements can give your home its unique personality. Properly installed and maintained siding will go a long way to ensuring the longevity of your home.

There are many options for siding with variation of style choices, cost, durability, and maintenance requirements. We are happy to discuss your particular needs, whether you would like to re-side your home or make localized repairs.

Wood
Wood has an unmistakable appearance that fits the needs of projects in a way no other material can. Wood siding can be installed as clapboard (aka bevel or lap) siding, shakes and shingles, or a vertical board-and-batten style. Wood is still popular for restoration projects as well as more modern customized designs. Compared to other siding materials, wood is more expensive to purchase and install, and requires more frequent maintenance such as refinishing and repainting. If restoring your original wood siding or doing repairs, we work to ensure that there is a seamless match.

Fiber Cement
Fiber cement siding is a mixture of wood pulp, cement, clay, and sand. Fiber cement has low maintenance requirements and is more resistant than wood to fire, moisture, and insects. Fiber cement can also give a convincing wood-grain look. Fiber cement comes either primed, allowing for on-site painting and repainting, or pre-painted, which provides a longer lasting finish. Fiber cement siding can be installed as horizonal clapboard (aka bevel or lap) siding, shakes and shingles, or a vertical board-and-batten style. A leading manufacturer of fiber cement siding is James Hardie.

Vinyl
Vinyl siding, made from PVC, a durable plastic, is one of the more affordable yet quality options. When properly installed, Vinyl siding offers a long-lasting, virtually maintenance-free exterior that does not chip or peel and therefore does not need to be repainted. Vinyl siding comes in a variety of styles and colors that can help achieve the look you want. Many models today mimic the appearance of wood grain and can be installed as shingles or as horizontal slats.

Little Corner Construction is experienced in installing and repairing all of the above types of siding. Siding that is properly installed will go great lengths to prevent rot and increase the longevity of your home.
